As the Chamber of Greater Baton Rouge evolved into the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC), the organization needed to raise a significant amount of money to achieve its vision for the region. To do this, we initiated The Campaign for a Greater Baton Rouge which ultimately resulted in commitments of $15 million over 5 years.

Funded by over 100 leading organizations and launched in 2006, the campaign included seven strategies that worked together to drive economic development in the Capital Region:

  1. Business Retention and Expansion Program

  2. Business Attraction Program

  3. National Marketing Program

  4. Business Intelligence Program

  5. Special Opportunity Fund

  6. Public Policy Group

  7. Learning Community Initiatives

To report on the organization’s progress and achievements related to these focus areas, the team created Catalyst, a quarterly magazine for investors, community leaders and the media. The magazine featured bold covers and smart, succinct writing about feature topics such as regionalism, opportunities for the metro airport, workforce initiatives and improvements in national rankings.

Catalyst Awards:

  • 2007 American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Merit Award

  • 2007 Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) Superior Award

  • 2008 Gold ADDY Award

  • 2008 ACCE Merit Award

  • 2008 AMCP Platinum MarCom Award (Design/Magazine Category)

  • 2008 AMCP Honorable Mention MarCom Award (Design/Magazine Cover, Interior)

I supported the publication of Catalyst from 2006 through the first quarter of 2008 by managing the editorial calendar, drafting articles, coordinating with the agency and providing creative feedback. Also convincing the Chamber leadership to get out of the comfort zone and push the envelope sometimes.
