CHOOSE Louisiana Websites

As Louisiana was successful in changing perceptions about its business climate, more and more companies considered expanding or moving their operations to the state. While it checked many of the boxes for business, Louisiana’s reputation for colorful communities and joie de vivre became a stumbling block for executives and their families.

To counteract impressions from the movies and the media, Louisiana Economic Development created websites depicting life in each region of the state. With original content and photography, the sites show what it is really like to live, work and play in Louisiana. From healthcare and schools to neighborhoods and art galleries, each of the eight Choose sites give prospective residents a snapshot of life outside of the crawfish boils and Mardi Gras parades.

The Choose sites became a critical resource in the state’s recruitment efforts at every stage in the process. The content was useful in the initial site selection phases of recruitment and in the final decision locations. Companies throughout Louisiana also utilize the sites to recruit out-of-state talent to Louisiana.

In addition to the websites, we developed a companion presentation deck and brochure that can be used when pitching business development prospects. A second phase of the project--Get to Know--is currently under development. The Get to Know content for each region of the state will help families relocating to Louisiana get grounded once they have moved.

My role in this project was to assemble the team that researched and produced all content and to manage design, development, timelines and budgets. I also wrote copy and took photos for the sites in addition to reviewing every article and image. Our team developed a robust system for managing and updating the content to ensure that data and information is accurate.
